Edwards Apple Orchard West

Edwards Apple Orchard West is a family orchard on Cemetery Road in Winnebago, just outside Rockford, with 18 varieties of apples from more than 5,000 trees. It opens at harvest time in late August and stays open through Thanksgiving weekend, every day from 9 AM to 6 PM.

What can we pick?

Apples and pumpkins are both pick-your-own. Back in the 1893 dairy barn there is fresh apple cider, apple cider donuts and homemade caramel apples.

Is there anything just for kids?

A free play area with a wooden bus and train, a school house and corn cribs full of corn to dig in, plus a petting farm with a goat walk. On weekends and holidays there are pony rides and wagon rides into the orchard for a small extra cost.

We need gluten-free. Any options?

Yes. Gluten-free and dairy-free apple cider mini donuts are made every Thursday after 1 PM in a dedicated fryer, though the kitchen itself is not certified gluten-free. The regular donuts contain wheat, soy, milk and eggs.

Can we pay by card or bring the dog?

Cards are accepted, but single donuts and slushies are cash only. Pets are not allowed on the property, so leave the dog at home.
