Garwood Orchards is a 500-acre working farm on West 50 South outside La Porte, farmed by the same family since 1831. Its fall u-pick runs every day from September 4 through October 31, 2026, with apples and pumpkins in the fields through both months.
What are the hours?
The market is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM and u-pick runs 9 AM to 5:30 PM. The last wagon out to the u-pick fields leaves at 4:45 PM, so plan to arrive well before that.
How do we get out to the picking areas?
Horse and tractor drawn wagons carry you out. On weekdays they leave from the market, and on weekends they leave straight from the u-pick farm. There is no fee for parking or for the wagon rides.
Should we call before driving out?
Yes. The farm says weather and field conditions can close or delay picking, and asks visitors to call (219) 362-4385 on the same day they plan to come.
