About Franklin Cider Mill

Franklin Cider Mill on Franklin Road in Bloomfield Hills has been pressing cider since 1837. Its 2026 season opened on Saturday, September 5, and runs through Sunday, November 29.

What are the hours?

The mill is open every day from 8 AM to 6 PM. The Franklin Market and the Apple Shack close a little earlier, at 5:30 PM.

What can the kids watch?

The mill's original 90-ton press is still in use, and visitors can see apples being chopped, wrapped in cloth and pressed. Behind the mill you can look into the bakery as cinnamon and spiced donuts are made, and the original water wheel is out by the river.

What happens on weekends?

Saturdays and Sundays bring mellow jazz from 11 AM to 5 PM, face painting from 11 AM to 4 PM, fresh hot corn and grilled cider dogs, which are hot dogs marinated in cider.

Can we bring the dog?

Yes. The mill is pet friendly, as long as pets stay on a leash inside and out. There is a ramped entrance to the sales area, and the lower level is fully accessible from the lower parking lot.
