Dexter Cider Mill on Central Street has been making cider on the banks of the Huron River since 1886 and calls itself the oldest continuously operating cider mill in Michigan. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, 8 AM to 5 PM, from late August into November.
What is made at the mill?
Wood-pressed fresh cider, warm cinnamon doughnuts, caramel apples and apple nut bread, made on site every day. On weekends there is also apple strudel, apple turnovers and hand-rolled gingersnaps. Some menu items are only available on certain days.
Should we bring cash?
Yes. The mill takes cash or check only, and there is an ATM on site.
Is anything happening in October?
The hard cider tasting room is open Saturdays from noon to 4 PM, with singles at $3, two for $6 or a flight of three for $9. Food trucks are scheduled for Sunday, October 4 and Saturday, October 10.
Where can we sit?
There is outdoor seating along the river behind the shop. The mill notes that there are a lot of bees out there.
